Taking
a Break

Increasing visibility for 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPOC people

SUS started in Central Oregon as a way to increase the visibility and representation of 2SLGBTQIA+ people through print media, art, education and community. SUS Magazine grew from a locally designed and distributed publication into a project reaching communities throughout Oregon, creating space for stories, artwork, resources and perspectives that were often difficult to find in local media.

Over the course of the project, SUS expanded beyond the magazine through community events, partnerships, educational resources and other projects centered on 2SLGBTQIA+ life in Oregon. That work connected us with people across the state and gave us a much clearer understanding of what our communities need, where gaps continue to exist and what it takes to do this work responsibly and sustainably.

SUS is currently on a break while we consider what the next version of the project should look like. We are reviewing what worked, what did not, and how the work can evolve in ways that are more sustainable, accessible and responsive to the people it serves. We are also working to preserve and organize the history, stories and resources created through SUS so that the work already done remains available.

We do not have a timeline for what comes next, and we are intentionally leaving room for SUS to change. SusWorld.org will remain here as a record of the work so far and a home for whatever comes next.
